The Saturday farmers’ market at Clark Park is back in the full swing of spring with a full lineup of vendors. Strawberries are back in great numbers and reaching their wonderfully aromatic peak, fresh basil is abundant once more, greenhouse and hydroponic tomatoes are in fine form, and farmers are bring lots of plant starts (peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, broccoli, kale) for home growers. May I suggest the denizens of West Philadelphia collect the last of the asparagus and rhubarb posthaste?
On June 2nd, the Thursday market returns (3pm-7pm) with pasture-raised barbecue chicken and ribs from Country Meadow Farms, sweet and savory baked goods from Big Sky Bakery, unctuous cheeses and refreshing milk from Sunny Side Goat Dairy, as well as all of the local fruit and vegetables we’ve come to love from our Thursday growers.
