The Spring season of Clark Park Youth Soccer came to an end last Saturday with the traditional kids vs. parents games. Friends and family members cheered as parents put on their sneakers and chased the ball up and down the soccer field. And in the spirit of CPYSL, everybody won — enjoying another beautiful Saturday of fresh air, sunshine and healthy exercise!
We had a great season despite a couple of rain-outs, a lot of dust and some mud. Thanks to the organizational skills of soccer parent (and sponsor) Grace O’Donnell, coaches and players were treated to a delicious potluck picnic, feasting on family favorites and local treats. Many thanks go to our ranks of coaches, who include parents, college students and local volunteers who just want to share their love of soccer.
We started the season with the sorrow of saying good-bye to the founder and long-time (solo) organizer of CPYSL, Paul Brooks. The generosity of Paul’s family and friends has established the Paul Brooks Youth Soccer Scholarship fund, ensuring that — as was always Paul’s practice — all children have the chance to participate regardless of family finances.
On behalf of the children who participate (nearly 200 this season!) we’d like to express our gratitude to the individuals, local organizations and businesses who help to sponsor the Clark Park Youth Soccer program:
|Margaret Brooks||Dr. Vivianne Nachmias|
|Daroff Properties||O’Donnell Real Estate|
|Goffredo Plumbing||Orange Octopus Consulting|
|Green Line Cafe||Reading Terminal Market|
|Metropolitan Bakery||U.S. Navy (via Charles Larson)|
|Michael’s Custom Cuts||Vineyard Church|
|Milk and Honey|
Thanks all, for a great season — see you in September!
