‘Party in the Park’ Is Open to All – but Free Beer for Joiners

The whole purpose of Friends of Clark Park’s PARTY IN THE PARK is to help the whole community celebrate West Philly’s sacred green soul. That’s why it’s free!

But we still want you to join Philadelphia’s strongest park-support group. The money we give helps keep this park special.

That goes for you too, roommates & housemates! If there are at least 2 of you living at the same address, you qualify for a Household Membership (2 votes for $25 dues). That’s only $12.50 per person….

AND if your Household joins FoCP at PARTY IN THE PARK, that’s 2 of you who get a free Dock Street beer, with the next beers @$3. Membership has its privileges. Beer for nonmembers is $5.

So do the right thing by Clark Park next Saturday evening, 4-8pm! Show up & join up. Bring your roomies, recruit your homies, support the park, sample the brew, hang out with your family, meet the neighbors, enjoy a spring evening & have a good time. Surely everybody you know should become a Friend of Clark Park….

Pianos to return to Clark Park in June!

We are delighted that Heart & Soul: The University City Public Piano Project, will return to Clark Park from June 7 – 15th. This year, the interactive public art project from the University City District will occur only in Clark Park, featuring four distinct, artist-decorated pianos placed throughout the park. Passersby are invited to play the pianos to their hearts content, whether they are practiced maestro or a casual novice. Last year, the University City District project featured eight decorated pianos at various places around the neighborhood. Clark Park’s piano in the central plaza was painted by Katie Holeman with a motif of lively and lush plants adorning a charming and secretive door to another world. The project was a fantastic success, and Clark Park’s piano was rarely, if ever, without a player or two. This year we are thrilled to be the selected site for all four pianos and we invite everyone to stop by to tickle the ivories!

“Holi for Toddlers” (Children 5 and Under)

Hello Clark Park lovers!

HOLI is an Indian festival celebrating spring. Children will throw colored rice flour in the air and on each other! This will take place at 10am Saturday, Mar 30 in the North Park, above Chester.

It won’t take long. Could this be fun for your young one — & for you?

Please bring your own colored rice flour. Here is a recipe:
http://www.ehow.com/how_8298922_make-colored-flour-festival-colors.html. If you cannot do this, please email dalalsimons@gmail.com to reserve some pre-made flour, which is very limited in quantity.

If it is warm enough, we could make colored water and put it in spray bottles as well.

It’s best to wear light, old clothing that you don’t care about. It’s more fun if it is light-colored because we’ll be able to see the colors much better!

This merry spring children’s festival is open to all. Planning is Picnic Style: bring snacks for yourself and to share. And don’t forget a towel to clean up all the color!
